MAKING SORGHUM IN ASHVILLE

Charlie Williams, of Ashville has been making sorghum syrup since he was 9 years old. He learned the art from his father who learned from his father and so on for several generations.
This year Charles grew about a half acre of sorghum. On October 14th he made his syrup for this year with the help of some family and friends. Bill Jones and John Stewart brought along their horses to supply power for the mill. After 3 horses and a mule got a good work out the job was turned over to a tractor.
